The Salem Clinic Medical Foundation team launched the skhealthcarecareers website in the summer of 2023. The site was developed to be a tool for local youth to explore health care career options, by being able to compare and contrast educational requirements, local earning potential, proximity of training programs and other factors. The medical foundation team also performs outreach to local youth through classroom visits, career day presentations and event sponsorships.

The Salem Clinic Medical Foundation team proudly received the President’s Award from the Maion-Polk County Medical Society in the winter of 2024 for their efforts to help develop the local healthcare workforce. Additionally, Hermes Creative Awards bestowed a Platinum Award for excellence in terms of quality, creativity, and resourcefulness and Oregon PRSA bestowed a Spotlight Award for the community relations campaign for the site launch. Development and promotion of the site is ongoing. Salem Clinic Medical Foundation and Salem Clinic staff and physicians regularly attend career days and all other manner of classroom presentations to promote the community benefits and personal rewards of healthcare careers.
